I throw this out there and welcome responses. I have a problem and the problem is this: regardless of what the movement…
I'm married, have two grown sons and one grown step-son. I live in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm in my fifties and have gone from certainty that a new era was dawning to puzzlement of how things went, to a horrible realization that most people have no idea who or what a citizen is, what that responsibility is; that most people seek Eden and a Single Answer whether through religion or ideology and that's fatal to a democracy, especially a Republic. Either/or questions and answers are crutches. Reality is far more complex, so do what works, invent, think and wrestle and always doubt. Mere self-interest is facism. The corporate grip on We the People is so complete that it is close to strangling the life out of a nation that has yet to reach it's humanitarian potential. There is another way, there is always another way, one that we can invent as we go along.
These are dangerous and interesting times. When it seemed as though the ideological grip of consumerism would finally loosen enough to allow people to wake up, to breath in new concepts, the sentimental and fearful wish for the way things were is unleashing it's bizarre psychological power, reinforcing those who own and control this country. This is a small forum to try to counter the juggernaut of the corporate media. This time and this place is an unprecedented opportunity to push back.
