More from this analysis of the Republican debate with Washburn as the moderator here http://state29.blogspot.com/2007/12/carolyn-washbu … :
"The problems went beyond Washburn’s lack of mad moderating skillz. From the outset, Washburn announced that the candidates would not be discussing either Iraq" !!!
"Moderator Carolyn Washburn, editor of The Register, was determined to hold the politicians to a 30-second time limit for their answers." Which is what Chomsky always says about the corporate media: because they force everyone to answer very briefly, it is impossible to introduce new ideas to the public. That is a very shrewd way of censoring ideas that have not been marketed by the mass-media before.
And she "saw to it that none of the candidates engaged each other.", which makes it impossible for a candidate last in the polls to attack a candidate who is at the top of the polls.
From this story:

the Gannet company is very closely linked to the military-industrial complex. That they want to get rid of the only democrat who is against the wars that help the military-industrial complex getting ever richer is not surprising.
Also: The Gannett media conglomerate shares directors with Lockheed McCorkindale), and Cummins engine (James A. Johnson).

From http://www.namedpipe.org/ :
"Carolyn Washburn is pure Gannett material through-and-through."
"Carolyn received a Gannett President’s Ring in 2001."
Which means she is a pure puppet of the military-industrial complex, does exactly what her bosses want.
