*NOTE:   This project focuses US and other policies affecting the “farm price” issue, such as cheap farm prices from 1980 to 2006, and increases in some prices starting in about 2007.   The prices of corn, soybeans and rice rose to where they were consistently above zero vs full costs.  It was then widely and falsely reported that these were “skyrocketing,” “record high prices.”  Among the issues covered are export dumping, farm subsidies (i.e. as misunderstood by trade negotiators), and measures to address high prices (i.e. Farm Bill Price Ceilings to trigger putting Reserve Supplies on the Market).  There is also a section on similar European (CAP) policies.
