21 years after it was first published, the BBC proves Edward Herman’s and Noam Chomsky’s Propaganda Model, as contained in the book Manufacturing Consent, is as relevant as ever.

"We will hear the formal opening arguments from all five panellists in a moment, but first let’s sample what our audience at Chatham House thinks…. I am going to put to a series of options to you, which range, I guess, from ‘mission impossible’ to ‘mission possible’. And when you hear the one that is closest to your personal view, if you could raise your hand. I’ll give you the options first. The first is ‘very possible if we had a clearer idea of what we wanted to do’. The second is ‘possible, but increasingly difficult’. The third is ‘barely possible anymore’. And finally ‘impossible’.
