The very fabric that holds our society together is wearing thin. People are toiling day and night in unimaginable circumstances while they still watch their children waste away. We are stealing from them. This is a theft like none we have ever seen before. While these people starve we grow fat on the product of their hard work. We are consuming them. While they wither away we have a mighty feast, and their flesh is the main course. Who would have though that Jonathan Swift’s modest proposal would become a prediction. The fabric that holds our society together is our interdependence. But we are stretching it thin. How long can we go on like this?
