Wilson and Roosevelt on Corporations

“All contributions by corporations to any political committee or for any political purpose should be forbidden by law; directors should not be permitted to use stockholders’ money for such purposes; and, more-over a prohibition of this kind would be, as far as it went, an effective method of stopping the evils aimed at corrupt practices.”  President Roosevelt

I can’t find the Znet article that featured the Roosevelt quote but Wilson’s words come from Chomsky’s ‘The Corporate Takeover of Democracy’..

A century ago, Woodrow Wilson, then an academic, described an America in which “comparatively small groups of men,” corporate managers, “wield a power and control over the wealth and the business operations of the country,” becoming “rivals of the government itself.”
