The book’s central claim is that pornography and masturbation, being a minimal sort of sexuality, encourages a kind of inactive solitude in many of its viewers. By no means advocating censorship of any kind, the author indirectly voices his admiration for the annual festival of the Xerente tribe in Brazil, which chooses a more spontaneous, more social lifestyle over the protection and control of minimal living.
