Think about Tomorrow

Think about Tomorrow

sing to the tune of Solidarity Forever

(Battle Hymn of the Republic)

We live in Pennsylvania where the water's pure and clean

The air is clear, the crops are good, the grass and trees are green

We could lose it all tomorrow if we don't stand up today

And this is what we have to say:

It's time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

We can find a better way!

The heavy trucks are moving in, there's diesel in the air

A lot of us are worried but Big Business doesn't care

Fifty thousand gas wells is not a lot they say

They call it the Marcellus play

There's a process known as fracking that they use to start each well

Exploding toxins underground to raise the flames of hell

They tell you that it's safe, but folks have other tales to tell –

They wish there'd been a better way

It's time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

We'd better find another way!

The industry won't tell us much, they're keeping us confused

The politicians likewise, do you think they're being used?

The money's flowing freely and they say it's all okay

And there isn't any other way

The workers up from Texas say, “It's mighty pretty here –

but we ruin every place we go, we might as well be clear.

We're trained to take the jobs you need and we'll take home the pay–”

Who says it has to be that way?

It's time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

It doesn't have to be that way!

It's natural gas they're after and they say the time is now

It takes tons of fuel and water but they'll take it anyhow

It isn't going anywhere, let's leave it there for now

Until we find a better way

There's conservation, solar, wind, and fuel-efficient cars

Safer, cooler, greener ways to power this life of ours

Put people back to work again and give them better pay

That would be a better way

It's time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

We know there's a better way!

The powers that be are worried and they call us terrorists

But we're only asking questions, unasked by journalists

We're the ones who live here, we're entitled to our say

That's the democratic way

Explosions, fires and toxic leaks – we're right to be concerned

From Clearfield, Dish and Dimock there are lessons to be learned

We're injuring our children, if we don't learn today:

We've got to find a better way

It's time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

Time to think about tomorrow

We can find a better way!
