Does the Left Have a Plan?

David Harvey, a Distinguished Professor at the City University of New York and the author of The Limits to Capital and Alexander Cockburn, co-editor of Counterpunch, on the end (or future) of capitalism.

Most everyone agrees that the financial architecture is changing rapidly. There are five large banks left. Job losses continue to mount and the foreclosure crisis is far from over. What kind of system will emerge from the financial collapse? According to Harvey we’re seeing a massive centralization of class power not a redistribution of wealth. Not surprising given that Larry Summers, Timothy Geithner et al. are crafting the economic recovery plan. Will the left be able to push Obama in a different direction?
