Sonali Kolhatkar is the host of "The Uprising Show," an hour of news and analysis on KPFK-FM, a Pacifica radio station in Los Angeles.
Up until recently, Kolhatkar worked as an applications developer at the California Institute of Technology. She has undergraduate degrees in physics and astronomy from the University of Texas and a master\'s degree in astrophysics from the University of Hawaii.
Kolhatkar is also vice president of the Afghan Women\'s Mission, a group that works in solidarity with Afghans to help improve health and educational facilities for Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Sonali has spoken out about women\'s rights and human rights in Afghanistan as well as the responsibility of the U.S. to the people of Afghanistan. Her piece entitled "By Any Standards, This is a War Against Afghans" was published online at zmag.org and commondreams.org. Her interview of a RAWA member was recently published in the January 2002 issue of "Z" magazine.
Kolhatkar is also one half of "Love and Subversion," a Pasadena-based music band, along with her husband, Jim Ingalls. She sings, paints, sews, cooks, and dabbles in web design.
