Corruption is always a matter
Of the other man’s pocket,
Never of our own soul;
We can kill and maim all
We want and still remain whole.
The citizenship we authorize
Is unrelated to bread,
To school, to work, to medicine,
To roof over the head.
Corrupt are those that speak of this,
In preference to slogan, flag;
They bring down the successful
And drag development to the rag.
Big notes are fine so long as
They corrupt the electorate,
Or can be ploughed to engineer
Bigotry and hate.
But once among the designer suits,
We must decry big notes,
Taking care to first announce
The stratagem to our hosts.
The people they are truly great,
Standing in disciplined line,
While those who stack them
Big big notes wink into their wine.
