Many believe that elections are the heart of democracy. Not so. There has to be a genuine belief in the rightness of democracy–people participation–in choosing how to govern–by a true majority. We do not have that in the US. We have a wealth-dominated and ideologically twisted scheming to shape a system that can be manipulated and which depends on vast amounts of money by a determined wealthy class. The spirit of democracy has yet to be established in the US.
