I went back to De Suassure (Fourth General course in Linguistics or something) and had a look at that a few years ago, feeling exactly as you do about postmodernism, and wanting to revisit one of the feeder texts. It twigged finally. Postmodernism is reverse dualism; It reverses the dualisms of reactionary thought but operates in exactly the same way by denying unities of opposites (same in the Nietzschian strand too). The same old chicanery but in reverse. Two legs good, four legs bad.
