in 1996 I happend to hear Gore Vidal on KPFT radio while East bound on I-10 in Houston. He described the connection between the US gov, United Fruit, the Dulles brothers, Eisenhower, Henry Cabbot Lodge and the CIA's connection to the terrorist attack on the people and government of Guatemala.
It clicked for me: I understood the relation between money, corporations and their control over government. Democracy does not exist. I looked up Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Ed Herman, John Pilger, Tariq Ali, David Barsamian, Pacifica...for starters.
