I’d like to flag “the travesties of Nicolás Madero.” Is Boric a supporter of the various coup attempts, blocade, sanctions and the like foisted on Venezuela? I hope not.
Ariel’s words: “But like militants elsewhere, Boric also faces massive obstacles in order to enact the crucial changes that, in the case of Chile, are necessary to ensure justice and dignity for the country’s neglected majority,” are, of course, so true, not only about Chile!
I, too, am, as he says, “cautiously optimistic,” but it is an optimism that is much needed. He made Chile his home after his birth and some years living in Argentina with his family. I made Latin America my home for many years, even though like him, I find myself living in the US. My years in Latin America were never easy, but each day was a laboratory and education that I hold dear and continue to draw upon. Latin America needs Boric and many more of him, the US, too.
